Review: Shattering Halos by Sunniva Dee

Shattering Halos - Sunniva Dee

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review

I was drawn to this NA paranormal romance by the cover and blurb. Shattering Halos is every bit a love story. Two souls who don't even live on the same plane, drawn together by that inexplicable thing called love. This isn't the "oh, he's really great" kind of love. This is the soul shattering, "I can't live without him" love story.

It isn't hard to imagine main character Gaia falling for her guardian angel. The way Gabriel is described, I think there'd be something wrong with her if she didn't. I didn't connect with Gaia as much as I would've liked, especially since much of the story is told from her POV. Gabriel is hot and falls hard for Gaia. There is definitely a lot of chemistry between the two characters.

My favorite scenes were the ones told from fallen angel Cassiel's POV. In my opinion, he's the shining star in this novel. The first part of the story is quite fast-paced, but it lags a bit in the middle before picking up again toward the end. At its core, this is a story of forbidden love and what lengths two people will go through to be together.

If you like stories heavy on romance, I think you'll really enjoy Shattering Halos.
